The GreenBlue team is excited to announce the appointment of Emily Williams as Director of How2Recycle. How2Recycle is North America’s leading recycling and disposal label, with hundreds of member companies using the label across thousands of packaging SKUs to provide clear, consistent instructions to consumers.
Since 2012, the How2Recycle label has been the source of truth for the packaging industry, providing brands and packaging producers with compliant, consumer-tested labels. As the industry evolves to meet changing consumer expectations, environmental impacts, and labeling legislation, clear, consistent labeling will play an increasingly important role in packaging decisions.
“Emily brings deep industry expertise and a strong understanding of how labeling connects packaging design, policy, and consumer behavior,” said GreenBlue Executive Director Paul Nowak. “At a time when clear, consistent disposal guidance is more important than ever, Emily will help How2Recycle members meet this moment.”
Williams brings more than a decade of sustainable packaging industry experience, spanning product development engineering, strategic marketing, partnerships, policy, and product recyclability to the role. She has also held leadership roles across the packaging policy and recycling landscapes, including serving on the Board of AMERIPEN, chairing the Government Affairs Committee for the Flexible Packaging Association, and participating in the Communications and Public Affairs Committee for the Association of Plastic Recyclers. Prior to joining GreenBlue’s How2Recycle, Williams served as a Sustainability and Innovation Partnerships Leader for TC Transcontinental.
She succeeds former How2Recycle Director Karen Hagerman, whom the GreenBlue team thanks for her role in advancing accurate labeling and transparency across the industry, including the development of the How2Recycle Decision Matrix.
