GreenBlue is pleased to announce that Abby Duffield has joined the team as a Project Manager with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, focused on How2Recycle. Abby has a degree in Cultural Anthropology from Towson University and previously worked in logistics, international shipping and e-commerce.
What inspired you to work in the sustainability field?
I’ve always had a passion for sustainability and environmentalism – I worked on Food Desert research and food sustainability in college, which is where I caught the bug. After working in an industry to import products to the US for an e-commerce end market, I started to wonder what happens at the end of that supply chain after the shipment delivery. Seeing the waste and end life of products galvanized me to make a shift and see if I could refocus my daily work elsewhere to make a change!
What do you hope to achieve with How2Recycle?
Help this amazing program grow and move however I can! I feel I have several skills and tools that I can bring to the program, but right now I’m listening and learning and gelling with this team of awesome individuals while I get started.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m a roller derby referee in my free time. I’m affiliated with the Charlottesville Derby Dames and travel all over to officiate. I like cooking, playing board games, and gardening in my free time.
A hot cup of tea on a cold day with a cookie and a good book. Or a sunny day out and about. Happiness can be found everywhere!
