Barilla joins the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and How2Recycle

Italian food company to use the How2Recycle label to make recycling decisions easier for consumers

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA, FEBRUARY 9, 2016 — Barilla, the well-known Italian food company, has just announced it is joining both the Sustainable Packaging Coalition and the How2Recycle label program. Both organizations are dedicated to advancing packaging sustainability through a collaborative environment, strong science-based approach, and clear communication tools.

The Sustainable Packaging Coalition is a working group made up brands, retailers, manufacturers, converters, government officials, and academia. By coming together to share insights, challenges, and victories, the companies that make up the Sustainable Packaging Coalition are on the forefront of sustainable packaging innovation.
By joining How2Recycle, Barilla will also be able to use label on packages to help consumers make the right decision when trying to recycle. Consumers can expect to see the How2Recycle label on Barilla pasta packaging and sauce packages starting in 2017.

How2Recycle is a standardized on-package recycling label that clearly communicates recycling instructions to the public. How2Recycle labels also include a URL ( where consumers can go to find more information about recycling.
